Cigar Dolls in The New York Times
In 2012, The New York Times profiled Ana Pérez, one of the original Cigar Dolls rollers, and the growing presence of women in a trade long dominated by men.

The article followed Ms. Pérez, born in Cuba and raised in New Jersey, who learned to roll cigars as a child from her father and grandfather. By day a social worker, she also worked events for Cigar Dolls — at the time a Miami-based company employing eight women cigar rollers across the country — hand-rolling cigars for guests at a corporate function in Midtown Manhattan. The piece noted how rare women were in the trade, and how a solid education was as much a job requirement for Cigar Dolls' rollers as the craft itself.
“There are fewer of us than there are astronauts,” Ms. Pérez told the Times.
